About Seetha Amman Kovil
Nuwara Eliya is a well known place when traveling in Sri Lanka. Seetha Amman Kovil also becomes a significant visiting place to know about the Ramayana Trails and the only Seetha Temple in the world. Seetha Amman Kovil temple belongs to Seetha and is the only Hindu temple found in Sri Lanka. It is one of the Ramayana places which can be visited during the tour. The temple is small but a great place to explore Hindu’s Mythology, History and Heritage.
Initially, Seetha Amman Kovil was a temple made with stones for the memory of Seetha, Lakshmana, and Rama. The British invited the Indian Tamil workers, and they built the temple that everyone can see now. The temple is managed by the Indian Tamils of Sri Lanka, and most indians prefer to visit.
According to the Hindus, Seetha Amman Kovil was built on the place where King Ravana pisoned Seetha, and she used to pray for her safe life to Lord Rama. They also believe that the Lord Hanuman came to deliver a message of Lord Rama as this temple shows the footprints of the Lord Hanuman on the rock, and the black color of soil refers to Hanumanji burning that area before leaving Sri Lanka.
The narrative about Seetha Amman Kovil Nuwara Eliya is that Ramana was a strong ruler. He insisted that Seetha live in his palace, but she declined and waited for her husband, Rama, to come and save her. Ramana created the Hakgala Botanical Garden near the temple, and Seetha used to wait for Rama there. There is also a river where Seetha used to bathe and pray, which became a historical monument, and there is a part of the river that water has no taste and they refers it as a cursed by Seetha Devi.

Seetha Amman Kovil is located in the scenic town of Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka. It is 5 kilometers away from the central city of Nuwara Eliya and 1 kilometre away from Hakgala Botanical Gardens.
Ticket Price
There is no ticket fee for getting into Seetha Amman Kovil, but if you want to donate by your choice, you can. But there are charges for the pooja service, which is around LKR 100 to 200.
