About History
- After Queen Viharamahadevi, the huge name in Sri Lankan history, and the mother of King Dutugamunu, this park was established.
- In previous times, this park was named and known as Victoria Park.
- Viharamahadevi Park was taken by the 17th Brigade of the Australian Army in World War II.
- Viharamahadevi Park also hosted popular games.
- In 1951, after World War II, the park was renovated and opened to the public.
Location
In Sri Lanka, The Park is located near the National Museum in Colombo and is around a half-hour away from the City Center. Also, Viharamahadevi Park can be seen in front of a colonial-era town hall building.
